Unfortunately our worst fears have been confirmed, our colleague/competitor ClanBase will no longer exist. This leaves UrbanTerror without a NationsCup in 2014 which would be a shame. A number of individuals have already PMed us asking if UrbanZone would host it, and the answer is yes, we would, but only with the community's support. The NationsCup is one of the most prestigious events on the UrbanTerror calendar.

We contemplated hosting a similar event a couple of years ago but never went the full mile. That event would have had some alterations compared to the NationsCup, such as allowing multiple national teams in order to make it more accessible and allow everyone to represent their country. With such setup, it would still be in the nation’s best interest to field the best team but enable a country to show off that it has more depth than just five top players!

It isn’t the first time the NationsCup has moved host; if our memory serves us the first was held at a different organization, and the first couple after that were co-hosted by both ClanBase and that organization. UrbanZone would be proud to host the NationsCup and follow in these organizations' footsteps.

Please leave your input below and vote in the poll on the right-hand side of the website if you would like Urban Zone to host the NationsCup XVII, and if so in what form. We will wait until the 28th of December to gather votes and input and make the final decision. Then on the first of January we’ll open signups. There won’t be votes for NationsCup captains to save time; and if we have multiple teams there won’t be any need.
