| Season 7 - one of our largest seasons so far - is slowly but surely coming to an end and it has been full of ups and downs in equal measure. Our praise goes to all the teams who tried hard and fought hard (and finished the season) – from the very best to the newest teams; you fought for every single point, and that is what counts. We experienced a slight increase in bans this season – with the number of new players who joined the league for Season 7, we got our fair amount of rotten apples. Fortunately, some of the cheaters had the decency to be as dumb as humanly possible and make the job of banning them easy for the staff – like our friend Live who cheated in a game with a referee spectating him or our dear comrade Matt who aimbotted in a pcw against two UZ staff members and one CB staffer and was so proud of his achievement he let himself be demoed. And of course, we should not forget our doubleclanners, who provided us with some fun as well but cost their teams valuable points – advice, gentlemen: one team is enough. That said, we would like to thank the rest of our teams for being disciplined and making our work easier for us. But we also need to thank our staff who did a LOT of excellent work to bring this season to you. We have started a new GTV and shoutcasting project and recruited “new blood” – young and skilled people from the community who have GTV'ed more matches than any other prior season. Sometimes that wasn't welcome *cough*CoN*cough*, but in general people responded positively. Furthermore, we've seen the birth of Urban-Zone Radio - many thanks to Clyphox and others for making this possible. We also had some of the newer referees lend a big hand in running the season and they made sure you all had the best conditions possible. Thanks, guys. As for this season’s results, Puff finally met their match in team Fox and Division 1 is seeing the first and the second tied at the same points for the first time in its history. The other divisions went through a season that was just as intense and you can see by results how tough the fighting was. This season was a major showdown between old and new skill and the fight was interesting to watch. And, of course, we cannot forget our AP division which saw some spectacular fights but at the end gave us the same winners as last season – kp10 and Clan Truth. Now let us get to the awards: Division 1: First place = puff** Second place = -Fox.- Division 2: First Place = aCe Second Place = InTribe Division 3: First Place = zT// Second Place = <KoS> Division 4: First Place = <GD> Second Place = +s Division 5: First Place = ][ThS][ Second Place = gF". Division 6: First Place = FFF:/ Second Place = sD| Division 7: First Place = /PARS// Second Place = -jS# Division 8: First Place = -HaZe- Second Place = [US] Division 9: First Place = [illegalstar] Second Place = "ht-| Division 10: First Place = ]O4F[# Second Place = ]LA[ Division Asia-Pacific: First Place = kp10. Second Place = |tR| Sportsmanship Award: This season we had several equal contenders for the sportsmanship award, such as teams Qchen and zT but two other teams are taking away the award banners. The first one goes to team Rowing Kittens Fragging for their unbelievable gaming spirit in the face of spectacular defeat. The second sportsmanship award goes to the Steve&D@x clan, a possible regular at taking the sportsmanship award, who had the chance to play 5 versus 4 in a match they were losing and did not. It is always a pleasure to see teams like these two. Congratulations, you deserve the award. Match of the Season: As usual, there were several matches that caught everyone’s attention, but it seems team Haagenti produce interesting games on a daily basis, since two of their matches fought out the battle for the match of the season. At the end, the staff picked their epic game against team puff**, in which they stripped the king of his crown – at least for one match. Click the following link for more information: match report . Most Improved: Season 7 was a great season for new teams who keep fighting their way up the division ladder with unbelievable dedication. One of the most impressive performances this season was delivered by the winner of this award who smartly combined old and new skill to dominate their division. The most improved team award for Season 7 was almost unanimously given to team Fight-For-Fun (you just got to love their name). Golden Dildo Award: This was one of the most difficult awards to decide this season because of the unbelievable number of candidates. Just let us mention Hellboy and bociam – the double-clanning wizards, the cheaters we busted this season, or Smyrna’s defenders who interpreted low FOV aimbot as a game bug. To all of you, we present this award. You deserved it. Golden Pacifier Award: The pacifier is our award for, well, crybabies and this season there was one clear candidate and thus winner. Our tongue-in-cheek award goes to team |CoN| for their emo quit from a match preceded by kicking GTV. A little advice, next time, don’t do it where everyone can see it :) Our winners are free to pick up their awards here (http://urban-zone.org/league/index.php?league=1&season=11&op=awards) – we hope you enjoy them! So, let’s all congratulate the winners and get ready to collect awards in other Urban Zone events. The next award may be yours. We do not plan to open Season 8 until next year to allow everyone to recuperate and bring forth their best lineups, but we are not leaving you stranded. As soon as time allows, we will open up a winter cup for all you UrT enthusiasts to help you bridge the gap between Urban Zone seasons and we hope to see you all fragging and flagging all through Christmas. But, as usual, we do have an allstar event in the works and if fates allow it will be a double-feature showing you the best players of Urban Zone as well as… well, let’s say we will give you your revenge on the people who tell you what to do and how at UZ. Dates will be announced as soon as possible and until then – enjoy your awards. |
