Let the Games Begin

Welcome to the Season 14 of UZ CTF League and Season 7 of UZ TS League.

To start with, set your profile time up properly. Look left. In the left-hand column, toward the top, you can see My Preferences. Click. Select your timezone AND your daylight saving time (example: GMT + 1 as timezone and European Union - Central GMT + 1 as daylight saving time). Click on SAVE CHANGES. Now continue reading.

Schedule for Seasons 14 and 7:
February 02 – February 05 - arranging wars for Week 1
February 06 - February 12 - Week 1 (arranging wars for Week 2)
February 13 - February 19 - Week 2 (and arranging wars for Week 3)
February 20 - February 26 - Week 3 (and arranging wars for Week 4)
February 27 – March 04 - Week 4 (and arranging wars for Week 5)
March 05 – March 11 - Week 5 (and arranging wars for Week 6)
March 12 – March 18 - Week 6 (and arranging wars for Week 7)

You will have the rest of this week to arrange your first wars, and the first matchweek will start on February 06. Don’t forget to update your team info, squad list and especially contact info! Also, we would like to remind you that your servers and clients MUST be updated to 4.1.1.

You can see your match schedule in FIXTURES in the competition menus: CTF HERE and TS HERE. Individual teams can also see their own matches in the Calendar and Results tabs of their Team Profile.

Please start scheduling your first wars for the following week as soon as possible. You can do so by talking to your opponents but we advise you to use the website challenging system which makes it easier for admins and referees to see who challenged who and when and thus honor your choice in case the match needs to be forced.

If you RESCHEDULE the match with your opponent, contact staff to change the date – that way your match can still be streamed and cast. Keep your scheduling up to date.

DO NOT FORGET TO READ THE RULES. There have been no significant changes but not knowing the rules is not an acceptable excuse.

Security update for dedicated servers

This is an alert for all of you that hosts or rented an UrbanTerror game servers.
Recently, Urban Terror servers has been targeted as a proxy for DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. Meaning: your game servers are being abused by 'third-party' to conduct their DRDoS (Distributed Reflected Denial of Service) attacks on other targets (hosts) on the Internet.
There is now an official update to remedy this, as well for other known server exploits.

* If you hosts your own game servers, go to http://www.urbanterror.info/downloads/security/ (or uses our local mirror) and update your dedicated server binaries/executables now!

* If you have rented a game server, please contact your game server hosting provider and inform them of this important security update; it might cost them bandwidth resources if they don't.

News links: http://www.urbanterror.info/news/351-security-update-27th-january/
Download: http://www.urbanterror.info/downloads/security/ or our Urban-Zone download section
Forum discussion: http://www.urbanterror.info/forums/topic/28081-security-update-27th-january-2012/
Additional forum discussion and information: http://www.urbanterror.info/forums/topic/27825-drdos/

Consequences of not updating your dedicated servers might be:
- Not being listed from master server query results (which will take into effects in a few days)
- Excessive bandwidth usage, which might leads to..
- Server lag
- Potential extra cost due to the bandwidth 'wasted' on the DRDoS
- Server being shut down

So update now!

Signups for Seasons 14 and 7 Open!

The first half of the year is always the best when it comes to Urban Terror, two seasons back to back, packed with loads of action! Let’s kick this first season off! From this moment onwards the signups are open for our 14th! CTF League season and the 7th TS League season. We hope you will join us for another season and maybe even break that record number of signups.

SIGNUPS
The signups will close on January 29, a couple of days later the divisions will be posted and you’ll have the remainder of the week (until February 5). To schedule your fight for week 1. As always you will need a minimum of 5 players to join the league.
(NOTE WE ONLY HAVE 10! DAYS FOR SIGNUPS, FROM THE MOMENT THIS HAS BEEN POSTED)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIGNING UP:
1. Clan leaders – see the top of the front page or click on the COMPETITION menu.
2. Select the competition you want to sign up for.
3. Now click the “chain link” button (you can see the text “sign up” when you hover your mouse over it) next to the competition you want and you will be signed up!
4. Do not forget to edit your roster, erase all players who left, add all new players, and edit permissions for your trusted players and captains.

Sign-up instructions for NEW team leaders and registration instructions for other players can be found in our manual HERE.

If you are new to this website we also have a pdf with useful information, you can find it here.

Please do not forget to fill in your team contact information in this website (team website, irc channel, contact email, etc.) – if we are unable to contact you and verify your signup, you will be removed from signups.

IMPORTANT:
ALL players in both leagues have to be registered. Multiclanning within one competition is not allowed. However, players are allowed to play in one CTF team and another TS team. Do not – repeat: DO NOT – create accounts for your teammates. We are able to reference IP addresses and your team will not be allowed to sign up if we find one person faking accounts for others.
Because we also have clans competing from outside Europe we want clans to set the correct country flag or you may end up playing vs 300 ping opponents, so no funny stuff.
Also we expect all players to know the rules and abide by them, so (re)acquaint yourself with them, your teammates may be punished for your wrong doing, and nobody wants that!

Now that that’s out of the way:

Good Luck and Have Fun!

Winter Cup 2011 summary

The winter break and the winter cup are over. Just like last summer- and winter cup, the b00bs clan is the winner again. It is getting a bit boring, hopefully next summer cup they will have more opposition. Their achievement is huge tho: they played 102 matches resulting in 434 points and we would like to like congratulate them on their win. The second place is going to [HiV|+| and third place goes to [vex.- Medals will be available later on this week.

Furthermore we would like to thank and congratulate all 93 teams that participated in the winter cup. Most matches were fair and we have seen a lot of good sportsmanship. Unfortunately, like always, we have also seen a few clans and people bending and breaking the rules. They already have been, or will be, punished for that.

Both TS and CTF Leagues are going to open their signup today or tomorrow! So go and grab your spot!

In other news, the signups for the upcoming CTF and TS league seasons are going to open this week (so stop pm'ing us)

Also the Urban Zone Download Area has been updated with 14 new maps, which should bring us up-to-date with all the latest releases! SevenofNine and =low=Anderson are also adding screenshots to the jump maps that were uploaded. Eventually we not only want to have the most complete collection of Urban Terror maps but also have screenshots for all maps so have an idea what you're downloading.

May the frags be with you!

We wish all contestants luck with map making, feel free to pm SevenofNine the details of your (finished) map, and he'll include it in the Urban Zone Download area.

We are now starting the 5th and last week of this Wintercup. Before anything else, a little checkup :

b00bs are actually 1st with 355 points and 86 matches played. If you think that you can still beat them, I wish you good luck because you will need to work hard for the win!
If you are more realistic, you can try to reach the second or the third place, currently taken by vex and HiV clans.

And if you do not want to finish in the top 3, you can still play for fun during this last week that will offer you the possibility to win 1 extra point.

Week Dates : 9/01/2012 - 15/01/2012

Week Gametype : All the cup gametypes

Week Map pool : cemetery666, sliema, paris_v2, village and finally sewerlair.

Playing one of these maps in any mode that can run it during your wintercup war will make you earn one extra point.

The sponsors of the week are : Vachette, Xesya

We also processed a team ban for mk clan which had 3 banned players, and one that returned. We advise you to recruit trusted players to avoid this kind of story happening.

Maps
Over 200 jump maps have been added to the Urban Zone Download area.
