Seasons 12/5 Summary and Awards

HomeNews

Word to the wise: STOP SIGNING UP FOR A SEASON THAT'S ALREADY OVER. Thank you.

With a slight delay but we are bringing you the final newspost for seasons 12 and 5. As is becoming customary in our summer season, we have experienced a slight decrease in activity and had a few more dropouts but fighting for points was as intense as ever. Add the huge number of streamed and GTVed matches and you will get one hell of a season.

Our thanks go to all our partners and sponsors – Taranis’s octoris.com for providing league servers, AGBD for hosting our file depot, urt-tv, and all the other people in the community who shared their resources and time with us. The awards were once again made by Liquid who managed to finish them despite his family going through some seriously tough time and whom we’re still keeping in our thoughts. And last but not least, a huge thanks to our referee staff and shoutcasting staff along with gtv guys from UrT-TV for helping us provide you with a bit of guidance and a lot of fun.

As usual, we’ve seen a lot of fighting this season – both the fair and the unfair kind. What we liked seeing was a number of teams rocketing through divisions on their way to glory – like SPA, nDa, b00bs, 42` and a number of others who often promoted by more than one division last season and still had enough potential and drive this season to come in first or second again and promote some more. What we did not like seeing so much, were higher division players getting involved in lower division matches – it cost two of them a chance to finish the season and a few other instances made us revise transfer and joining rules for next season.

Now the awards: check out yours HERE and put them on your websites, you deserved them!

The following awards are given out by referees and admins who get the chance to vote for teams and players who they think deserve it.

Sportsmanship Award: The sportsmanship competition was a little leaner this season but we did find a few teams that stood out. In TS, the awards goes to .wow. In CTF, team [b00bs] won this award, but [EO] and *GoF* were a close second. Great job by all teams above, you truly had to cope with some stuff that most of us wouldn't accept, and you all did it most graciously.

Match of the Season: In CTF, we were most impressed by the Italian derby between [iAt] and =(SiN)= in THIS thrilling match. In TS, the match of the season was chosen with ease, it goes to [JDf] vs. [C54]. This match was also streamed and shoutcasted, and we're all very lucky to have been able to see this thriller. It is still available for your viewing pleasure on youtube.

Most Improved: Several teams caught our eye this season as showing real improvement, for example intribe 2 and mg in ctf and puk and usless in ts. But the awards - and deservedly - go to gto` in CTF and =SC= in TS.

Golden Dildo Award: In TS, the magical dildo of enjoyment goes to *drum roll* rZr - thanks chaps for making this choice so easy, next time you can keep your bigotry to yourselves. In CTF, the award goes to all the Forfeit Hunters (a new term we've coined), you know who you are! People asking for demos months after the match has been played just to see if they can get a forfeit win without any true suspicion has been something rather new for us admins/referees, and also most annoying! So please don't forget, UPLOAD YOUR DEMOS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE MATCH (and don't become a victim)!

Golden Pacifier Award: The CTF pacifier goes to team `stL with a reminder to learn to keep quiet when being loud and whiny cannot accomplish anything. In TS, team 5* caught our eye and ear - let this award be a reminder that deeds are more effective than words. Especially if you want to prove you are more skilled than the staff thought.

Best Gambler Award: The betting module was an essential part of the fun at Urban Zone this season, with people winning and losing big on some surprising matches. It seems the person with the most luck – or the best “eye” for the qualities of our competing teams is once again Bordo, but it was a close battle! Not that we wish Bordo ill luck, but can someone please finally beat him next season.

Our winners are free to pick up their awards HERE

Ps. We've been asked to mention that the people over at custommapmakers.net have started a Custom Map Makers Mapping Competition, best mapper can win 50 euros! So if you have some free time this summer why not try your hand at some mapping! Check out their website for more information.

what exactly is your problem maks? there are three teams with the same points. boobs won vs one of those two teams (yours) and drew vs one (spa) - they're first. spa drew vs both teams - they're second. wu drew vs spa and lost to boobs - third. is there a problem with that math, love?

You are right, eya, but maybe it can be applied to the table ranking directly to avoid confusion(take off the whip and make kendle work Razz ).
Many people seem to have not read that part in the rules.

Anyway great season thx to all involved, we got last in ctf and ts, we rock Very Happy

Congrats to FiD, boobs and rush for promotion, u guys deserved it.

The way UZ does it is kinda different to most leagues, the table is sorted according to points and then rounds for / against (which only requires a simple formula), and on that basis WU beat SPA because they have +84 for/against and SPA have +58.

UZ is the only league I know of using this system that ignores for/against and uses head to head results to determine position for teams on the same points.

Of course anything's possible (to code) but it'd be specific for UZ and it would require a couple of passes through the table (maybe several) to work out position based on head to head results.

I'n not saying that UZ rules are wrong, just explaining why the tables don't reflect them. Wink

don't worry i am not pissed off, we can only blame ourselves for playing 2 matches with no attackers and losing both.

I just wanna say this about the sportsmanship award given to wow team:

urban-zone.org/index.p...xture=5274

Playing with specs? 3on5? Come on, a team with such award can not do such thing. Urban Zone is a great league but I think this award is the biggest fail ever.

BTW, the TS season number in the topic title it's wrong. We are on the 5th season.

Update: added an option to sort tables by points then head-to-head results (then for/against if still level) and applied it to TS season 5, Div 5 so that SPA are now 2nd and WU are now 3rd, as per UZ rules.
