Get UrT into Steam's Greenlight Programme.
Get UrT into Steam's Greenlight Programme.

Seeing as though, season by season, more people leave and the game gets quieter, can we try get UrT into the Steam Greenlight scheme? It's a perfect way, if it works, to get loads more people playing and for seasons to be full again.
I don't exactly know much about it, but it's £70 for a submission, that's it. (most of that is to charity too). I'm sure if FZ are down with it, we could raise those funds here very easily. Seeing as though other Quake mods have made it through, I'm sure UrT wouldn't have much of a problem.
Is this even possible? Is it worth the effort?

Great idea to break into new regions like Asia and to stabilizie or even increase those like Europe and US!
Worked for other free fps before. Even for "freemium" fps like A.V.A.
But this is only a method for medium-term, to get people playing UrT on longer term both community and the game itself need to be healthy and beginner friendly.

This discussion has been held a couple of times on the urt.info forums. Which other quake3 mods are on greenlight?
FS doesn't own all the content of 4.2 hence afaik it's not possible to go to steam.

Yea, I thought as much, that's the problem with UrT's history. It's relatively messy, hell who am I kidding, it's very messy. Some of the textures/models/sounds etc, are as old as the game itself. I'd just like to say that steam is most definitely on FS's radar (note: I'm not saying we're going for it, but we are interested). First step on the ladder though it (re)make this game with FS assets only.

Better than breaking copyright and leaving FS open to a lawsuit

Warsow is not Quake3 Arena mod - they have their own idtech2 based engine and assets.

What's the situation for HD in that context? Wasn't it based on an engine written by FS? Could that work?
